Best Ways to Travel Around Australia

Australia is one of the biggest country in the world but 70% of the land is desert so most people live on the coasts that surround the continent. With this in mind, travelling around this amazing continent can be exciting yet challenging. The good thing is that you have a lot of options to choose from.

Usually, you always start in major cities like Sydney or Melbourne when begin your journey so travel options are numerous. Before you kick of your trans-Australian travels, you should have a plan in place and a good idea on which route you would take. Take the distance and timeframe of your travel plan into consideration. For example, if you have not much time but you want to travel a long distance, the best solution is flying or taking an overnight bus. In case you have plenty of time and want to see as much as possible, the best solution is to rent a car.

Go on a Road Trip Adventure

If you are keen on travelling around Australia on your own terms, you might as well go on a road trip. It is a perfect option if you really want to visit places within your area or if you want to spend more time enjoying the scenery and meeting new people.

But for long road trips, it would be a good idea to have a trailer where you can store your personal items from tents to cooking utensils. Some people have camper vans and mobile homes thereby giving them more freedom to do things you normally do at home even while on the road. This will save you a lot of money on hotel rooms and other accommodation costs.

Travelling by Bus

Some people would find bus travel as hassle free since you are now free to enjoy the trip without worrying about driving long distance. The bad thing though, you are bound to the schedule of the trip and you can't just stop whenever you find a very interesting attraction along the way. Although there are tour packages that allows you to explore places, you have to pay a bit more.

Fly High

Planes are the fastest and cheapest way to travel from point A to point B. There are cheap budget airlines like Jetstar or Virgin Blue with which you can fly for almost nothing. Although you can fly from every airport, you will not be able to see anything in between since most beautiful attractions are those that you can discover for yourself on the ground.

Try Hitch Hiking

If you're the ultimate cheapskate and adventurer rolled into one then you may want to consider hitch hiking. It is the best option if: (1) you are travelling alone; (2) you have a lot of time and (3) you would like to meet new people. Although it is the cheapest way to travel, it is also the riskiest as you put your fate in the hands of strangers. Being friendly and flashing your smile will always break down barriers and gain other people's trust. Just be patient yet cautious.

Enjoy a Sea Cruise

If you have a lot of money and a lot of time to waste then you can enjoy a sea cruise in Australia. However, you can't explore a lot of fabulous landmarks and exciting destinations on land. You can marvel at the amazing scenery the sea has to offer or maybe you can travel around Tasmania if you want.
